1. Organic Pest Control | Ants
Ants can be annoying both inside and out in the garden. Some ideas for getting rid of ants include:

• spread crushed mint (especially spearmint) in the affected area to deter ants
• cucumber is another deterrent for ants so try spreading a few slices around the problem area
• sprinkle chilli powder or cayenne pepper on ant trails and in cracks near your house
• sprinkle borax on ant trails and in cracks in pavement
• find the ant nest by placing sugar on the ground and following them home, then pour boiling water down the hole to kill them
• make an organic spray repellent of citrus peel and water (mix in a blender) and spray ants on the ground or in their nest
• spray ants directly with soapy water made using dishwashing detergent

2. Organic Supermarkets | Sydney
People in Sydney are lucky enough to have a fairly large choice of organic supermarkets and grocery stores. Organic supermarkets can be found in a number of locations around the city plus there are also a few online grocery stores where you can order fresh fruit and vegetables and other products and have them delivered to your door.

3. Growing Organic Herbs Indoors
Most herbs are very easy to grow and are therefore the perfect plants to grow if you are a novice gardener. Herbs are also worth growing as companion plants and every serious cook knows the benefits of using fresh herbs in their meals. 4. Organic Fertilisers
Using organic fertilisers in your garden is much better for your health and the environment. However, organic fertilisers which have been purchased from a garden centre should only be seen as a short term solution for growing healthy fruit and vegetables. The long term solution is to build and maintain fertile soil by using:

• green manures
• well rotted animal manure
• home grown compost
• potash
• mulch
• crop rotation

5. Bamboo Baby Clothes
Organic cotton and bamboo baby clothes make great gifts but are also perfect everyday wear for your baby. Bamboo produces a surprisingly soft fabric which is naturally antibacterial and hypoallergenic and therefore ideal for babies. It is produced by eco friendly means as no pesticides, herbicides, and other toxic chemicals are used during its production. Bamboo production is a sustainable agriculture as the plant continues to grow after being harvested (no replanting is required) and it uses relatively small amounts of water to grow (when compared to cotton). If you are concerned about fabric dyes, most bamboo products are available in natural, unbleached fabric without any dyes.
