Send a Gift Card | Plant a Tree
Billions of greeting cards are sent around the world every year. An awful lot of trees go into making those cards and a lot of energy is used to send them. Ekoni is trying to reduce the effect of this on the environment by creating a service where you buy a digital card for a small payment and in return they plant a tree.
We help you send digital cards with a real difference. For every card you send via the Ekoni site, we plant a tree. Simple as that.
There are many designs to choose from and you can write a personalised message of up to 500 characters. Ekoni will then send an email or text message (or both, the choice is yours) to the recipient letting them know they have received a card. They go to the site and view the card (which can be password protected).
You can set up reminders so you don’t forget any special days but you can only order the cards 48 hours in advance. View a sample gift card to get an idea of how they look.
The trees are planted over the winter period in the UK - from November to April.
This service is available to Australians even though the payment is made in pounds (£4) and the trees are planted in the UK. It would be nice to see a service like this based in Australia. I really like this idea and intend to use it in the future.
