Get a Personal Wind Turbine
Most electricity in Australia is generated by non-renewable energy sources. The burning of fossil fuels for energy is a significant contributor to global warming but is also a resource which won’t be around forever. For whatever reason, we need to find alternatives.
Australia’s climate is perfect for creating solar power, however, the cost of producing this power is currently relatively high. This is also the case for wind power. Production costs for both of these renewable energy sources is decreasing with increased research and improving technology.
If you have enough land and live in a windy place with little turbulence then you might be able to produce your own electricity with your own wind turbine. These are available for sale in Australia and could allow you to become more or less self sufficient where energy is concerned.
Wind turbines and solar panels are available here, where you can also find further information on wind turbines and other renewable energy resources. This is what they have to say about wind turbines:
Wind turbines, which are also known as wind generators, produce electricity from the wind. Wind turbines come in many shapes and sizes, and range from those that can produce small amounts of electricity for small power demands like keeping boat batteries topped up, right up to huge machines that can run hundreds of homes. Choosing the best site for a wind turbine is important. You need an area with relatively high average wind speeds, with little or no turbulence. To achieve this, the turbine is normally mounted on a high tower well above all obstructions. Tower height ranges from 12 metres to 30 metres or more, depending on the site. A tower that is too short will provide disappointing results.
It’s up to you to decide whether or not you will save money creating your own wind power but with more turbines coming on the market all the time, at affordable prices, it’s likely they will save you money in the long term.
