Organic Milk is Better For You

The first time I saw organic milk in the supermarket I bought it and have never gone back to conventional milk since then. I especially love unhomogenised organic milk - it’s so delicious. I drink organic milk purely for the flavour but I’ve always wondered if organic milk was healthier than other types of milk. After reading about a number of studies conducted in the UK and Denmark, I’m convinced it is healthier.

Each of the studies concluded that organic milk is naturally higher in Omega 3 fatty acids than regular milk. Omega 3 has a number of benefits such as maintaining strong bones and teeth, aiding joint movement, and maintaining a healthy heart. The studies also showed that organic milk is higher in vitamin E and beta carotene.

The other reasoning behind the idea that organic milk is healthier is that it doesn’t contain antibiotics. This is debatable as when antibiotics are given to cows in conventional farming, they are not milked until the antibiotics have passed from their system. The concern is whether or not the antibiotics have really left their system and just how often they are being given these drugs.

What I think is more important is that cows on organic farms are fed food which doesn’t contain any pesticides. Plus they graze on farmland which is also free from pesticides and other chemicals. For me, this reason alone is enough for me to only use organic milk.

I’m not too concerned as to whether the research done is correct or not. My attitude is that it’s better to be safe than sorry. Conventionally produced milk is possibly okay for you but you can sure that organic milk is.
